Powerful 1.8HP X-Torq Engine Keeps Emissions Low
The 240E delivers 1.8 horsepower, making it well-suited for medium-duty jobs, such as pruning or domestic cutting. The engine features Husqvarna's special X-Torq technology, which reduces emission levels by up to 60 percent and fuel consumption by up to 30 percent, so you'll be able to harness the power of a gas-powered chainsaw without having to worry about heavy pollutant output.

Durable Engine Built for Long Life
The 240E's engine has been built to withstand years of use. It uses a three-piece crankshaft, which has been forged and compressed for superior durability. Also, the chainsaw's centrifugal air cleaning system helps preserve engine life by removing harmful debris before it reaches the filter.

Easy, Effortless Startup
With the 240E, you won't have to waste precious minutes trying to start the engine. The chainsaw uses a combined choke/stop control, which allows for easy engine starting and reduces the risk of flooding. It also has a specially optimized fuel pump, which keeps the fuel lines clear and helps facilitate startup.

Ergonomic Design Reduces User Fatigue
The 240E has a lightweight frame that minimizes strain on your body, even after extended use. The chainsaw's shape, which includes a seven-degree offset handle and contoured body, helps minimize fatigue. The chainsaw also keeps vibrations to a minimum, thanks to Husqvarna's Low-Vib technology, which makes the chainsaw easier on your joints.

The 240E is backed by a two-year manufacturer's warranty.

Pretty good for light tasks -- light users, February 17, 2009
By
beng "beng" (beng)
I would give the saw an overall B- rating. The positve: It starts fairly easily if starting steps followed properly -- read them, follow them. It is light enough for the average home user. The engine seems pretty solid and I cut 1 cord of wood with the saw (for cutting wood, this saw is too small, but did actually do the task). The negative: the plastic toolless blade adjuster works ok, but seems weak and will break any minute. It worked sorta ok for me, but not great. The oiler didn't work so good after a few hours of use and should be cleaned often.

Overall the saw would be good for a home user that needs to cut 4 inch limbs and the occasional 6-10 tree. Follow instructions for starting and keep the chain well oiled, even if the oiler gets gunked up.

Great little saw, May 31, 2010

I bought this saw for my husband because I felt he needed a lighter weight saw since he uses one quite a bit on the farm and he isn't getting any younger. He immediately tried out the saw (he was used to a 21" cutting bar) and loeved it. To use his words"That saw cut through those trees like butter. He used it to clear fallen trees off our 375 acre farm and to do the "gin" work around our home. We had a very bad ice storm last winter and had many down trees to saw up to be moved. He loves the power and how easy it starts. He said to rate this 5 stars at least!

Better spend a little more and get a real saw, September 27, 2011

I bought this saw and replaced it after the first week of light use.
I thought for the price, this little husky would be an ok saw for light home use.
You get what you pay for and this saw is just way too cheaply made and designed.
A couple big problems with this very cheap saw.
First Husqvarna's chain axcess is very difficult on all thier saws. To clean or to replace the chain, it takes forever to get the cover off due to the chain brake design.
Second to get to the air filter on this saw you have to take the whole top cover off. Again takes a while. 5 screws that want to strip out.
Third there are no dawgs to hold the saw in place when sawing a log/tree. This is a toy saw.

For just a little more you can get a real saw that will last forever.

In case your wondering, I got a new Stihl MS270. Love it.
Yes it was twice the cost but it's so so so much better.
Super easy to work on and almost twice the power. Only 1 lb heavier.
P.S. One draw back is that Stihl only sells saws at a local dealer. (Hate that)
I got mine online for quite a bit less than the dealer but...your not supposed to be able to do that.

To be fair, Husky does make better saws if you want to pay more and they are one of only 2 brands made with a large network of dealers for service in the US. Stihl being the other.
I would not buy this particular saw at all.
It is not a good investment. You won't be happy with it.
If your going to go Husky, the 445 is a decent saw (has dawgs, lots more power and a more durable mid grade saw for only $60 more ($309 list).
The Stihl MS250 is comparably priced and would be my favorite in this class. Get the quick chain tightener if possible. So easy to adjust on the go. My cousin has used this saw hard for 6 years and it still runs perfect.

negative improvents, March 23, 2011

i have used husky 36's thru 141's for 11 years. They are inexpensive, but serviceable saws that last about 2 or 3 years. My last one was nearing the end, so I bought the 240. They have a bogus chain tightening system that is more awkward than the old way using two nuts. The gas tank runs out in 25 minutes instead of the 40 minutes with the 141. It had so little power that I took it into the chain saw shop 15 miles distant to adjust the carburetor ( it is now almost impossible for a do-it-your-self-er to adjust which makes no sense to me).The shop charged $25 and it still ran like crap. I finally figured out a way to adjust it myself, but it still doesn't have the power of the 141. My recommendation is to avoid this one like the plague!

Good Saw but mine was defective, June 9, 2011

This review is from: Husqvarna 240E 16-Inch 38.2cc X-Torq 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chain Saw With Smart Start (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
The first day I received this saw and used it, it cut very well and really went through thick trees with ease. However, (and I found this out when I brought the saw in for service) the chain oil pump was not working, so eventually the chain got overheated and became dull. I had to bring the saw in for service at a Husqvarna dealer and they replaced the non-functioning oil pump. I will be trying the saw again really soon.

plus and minus, March 27, 2011

Mine starts easily, and cuts really well. On the other hand, getting to and tightening the chain is a hassle; it's a pretty poor design. So if you're using this model for more than just light/occasional work, it's going to be frustrating.

Avoid This Product, October 9, 2011

This review is from: Husqvarna 240E 16-Inch 38.2cc X-Torq 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chain Saw With Smart Start (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
Purchased this saw to clear some fallen trees after the last storm - From day one, right out of the box the saw has given me trouble - The main complaint - It doesn't start - Not start difficult but follow the start instructions, pull the cord and pull the cord and pull the cord you get it) start - The damn thing wouldn't start - Brought it to a local dealer and they tried to start it - After about twenty minutes of fiddling the saw finally started - Brought it home to start the cutting project and after about 15 minutes of messing with the saw it finally started - Two weeks later another project - same pain in the ass problem - After 20 minutes of futzing with trying to start it - I gave up and went to a neighbor and borrowed their saw - which started first pull - Don't Buy Husqvama chainsaws unless you want to get arm execise and waste your time trying to start it -

Defective out of the box!, November 6, 2011
By

This review is from: Husqvarna 240E 16-Inch 38.2cc X-Torq 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chain Saw With Smart Start (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I have owned the Husqvarna 240E chainsaw for over two years. Thus far I have spent much more time repairing and trying to start the chainsaw than I have spent using it.

When I first received the chainsaw I could not move the chain as the brake had no effect - the chain was always in the locked position. I found the correct website for customer assistance and described the problem. Five days later I received a reply from one of Husqvarna's foreign distributors referring me to the exact same website where I had described the problem. Some much for customer service!

It was necessary to remove the plastic cover and pry the blade clutch loose and reassemble it properly. When the clutch was working I followed the instructions for starting the chainsaw but it would not start. The priming bulb was not filling with gas. I removed the cover and found the tube leading from the priming bulb was pinched in two places because the tube was not properly routed and was being pinched by the cover. So much for quality control.

I have been able to get the chainsaw to start several times although more times than not I am unable to get it to start or, once started, it runs for less than a minute and stops. Usually I am unable to get it to restart and give up in disgust. So much for easy starting.

I would not recommend this chainsaw (or the company for that matter) to anyone.

too sensitive to mixture?, January 19, 2011

This review is from: Husqvarna 240E 16-Inch 38.2cc X-Torq 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chain Saw With Smart Start (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
bought this item because I wanted a better product than a poulan. $280 and four gas tanks later it quit and there is now low compression. Dealer informed me that "running straight gas in it is not covered", as if I would pay good money for this item and then abuse it like that! That is how they get out of the warranty, now I know. In hindsight it may have been better to run the saw with more oil than prescribed- I would rather be changing fouled spark plugs then suffering a total loss.

240 e no start, and 1 on fire!, March 10, 2012

This review is from: Husqvarna 240E 16-Inch 38.2cc X-Torq 2-Cycle Gas Powered Chain Saw With Smart Start (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased (2) 240es. I had to bring them both to the dealer to be set-up, because of the chain-brake.You cant set-up yourself without the tool, only dealers have. Ok, it ran in the store.I took mine home, and it ran for 1 day.A few months later it started, but caught fire on its own.The second one-would not start so its back to the dealer again, with both. So, I dont recomend tools that catch fire!
