Great Tool. Basically a re-packaged Redmax, November 11, 2009

Our cheap homelight backpack blower died, and while I'll rebuild the carb and get it running, it'll still just be a glorified gas powered hair dryer. So I spent some time looking into getting a mid sized backpack blower and wound up with the Husqvarna 350BT.

I basically narrowed my choices down to Stihl 380, the comparable Echo, and the Husky 150 BT or 350 BT, which seem to be the same model. The Husky is just a Redmax EBZ5100 with orange plastic and a slightly different backpack system. Redmax has had a great rep among commercial users for a long time, so I can understand why husqvarna bought them and rebadged it.

Anyway, I ruled out the Stihl 380 since the echo and husky perform closer to the Stihl 420 but cost a bit less. The 380 and 420 seem to be essentially the same blower with different tubes. So I can't see why there's a $100 price difference. They have the same engine, and the same specs at the housing, but at the tube end the 420 has more volume. The Stihl is also an older design, but in it's favor, it's proven to be essentially bulletproof.

As far as how it works, it's an amazing product compared to the homelight, and the time we save clearing leaves makes me wish we'd bought it a long time ago. I really can't see making a decision based on the $30 price difference between the brands, so I chose the one I liked best based on performance and perceived noise. These light commercial grade blowers are all so close, I think the best advice is to pick the one that has a good dealer close by.

I have had this blower for about 1 month now and all I can say is WOW! I read the instructions and run 93 octane and Husqvarna XP mix. This thing fires on the second pull every time. I did alot of reasearch on this product before buying and as always I am not left down by a Husqvarn product. very comfortable on back and easy to use. With a little care this thing will last a long time.

I am impressed this is a well-made well designed, allot quieter than I suspected it ever would be.. no vibration to speak of...the harness distributes the weight well and evenly and is comfortable for long duration wear about a 3 hr. run time on tank of gas. I bought Husqvarna 2 cycle oil for air cooled Low smoke formula mixed with premium high octane fuel. I see no perceived smoke at all from the exhaust. Started up on the first pull. It does recommend that you change the plug twice a year and I bought six spark plugs to have on hand so I wont be tempted to put of recommend change times.

This Blower would be more than ample for an average yard or commercial use Dailey and does well even on wet leaves. My yard is rather large and many, many leaves for which I have a commercial grade push blower but wanted this for around the shrubs which boarders the property of about 1 acre. Compared to others that are $7
0 less this is the worth the extra money for the better performance and a well-constructed unit with proper care should last 10 yrs. or more.

As a person whose job is Quality Assurance I grade tough on many levels and would have no problem telling you of any problem but this product makes the grade. Money well spent and not a second of regret for this purchase.

I was hesitant about my selection. so many products available that it is actually confusing. however, I read the reviews and the Husqvarna seemed to be the winner. my dealer sold both echo and Husqvarna and I know him personally and he knows the conditions in which I would be operating the blower. he recommended the 360BT. so, I bought it, but I must admit, with reservation. well, my concerns were soon a mute point. this unit was fantastic. it moved leaves. LOTS OF THEM. Wet and dry. Small sticks and twigs are not a problem. The yard never looked so good. Put your mind at ease. This is A quality product that will move whatever you throw at it. I highly recommend it.

I bought this blower to replace my Echo which gave me nothing but problems. I decided to go with Husqvarne because they have a good reputation. I only use it a couple of times a week, I'm not a landscaper. So far, I really like it. Starts right up and is pretty quiet compared to my Echo. I thought it would have a little more power but it gets the job done. My only real criticism is the placement of the primer bulb. Other than that, the price was right so I would recommend buying this product.

Frozen after 1/2 hour of use, November 28, 2011
By
Dawn M Zimmerman (MEDIA, PA, US)
This review is from: Husqvarna 350BT 50.2cc 2-Cycle X-Torq Gas Powered 180 MPH Midsize Back Pack Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I picked this unit because of the brand and power for cleaning up the yard. I was extremely careful about setting the unit up and following the directions for use. After a 15 minutes to 30 minutes of use the unit powered down and seemed to have run out of gas. After taking it off and reviewing the unit, there was plenty of gas. I restarted the unit and began using it again, it lasted another 10 minutes then powered down again. I became very fustrated and went to my computer and searched multiple web sites to see if I could get any hints about what was happening. While there were multiple items concerning the choke and its proper use as well as the need for a high octane fuel with oil mixture, I did not find a smiliar problem.

When I went back to the unit, it was seized. My stomach fell, and I had to go back to raking all of the leaves.

I have registered the unit, but have not recieved a confirmation from the company as stated on their web page. And I have tried to use their consumer support line. I waited on the phone for 45 minutes this morning and I am writing this review while on hold during a second call (5:10 pm). The longer I wait my concern about this company increases. Previously, I was impressed by another review of this product on Amazon, where a Husqvarna employee responded to the complaint, and recommended that the individual call their consumer support line. But since there is no one to answer those calls, it is just another way to pretend to care publically but not in reality.

I have become very concerned about this after reading the company's web page and the question and answer section for consumers. It seems that they like to use the circular logic, "if the unit breaks, it must be a fuel related issue and is not a warrenty issue. The actual quality of the fuel does not matter since the failure is fuel related and therefore not a warrenty issue." They do not check the fuel, they just blame it for all of their troubles and walk away from the warrenty. I do not have the means to have my fuel sampled to prove this and will be very upset if they try and walk away from this unit.

Oh well, I am giving up on the phone call after 40 minutes.

It totally blows, November 22, 2011
By
J Clark
This review is from: Husqvarna 350BT 50.2cc 2-Cycle X-Torq Gas Powered 180 MPH Midsize Back Pack Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
It's a blower, and it does what it's designed to do. Some of the reviews I read talked about it being hard to start - I have not had that problem at all. I followed the instructions closely on mixing the gasoline with the 2-stroke oil. There is a primer button that you press several times to void the fuel line of any air pockets. It starts right up on the second or third pull of the cord.

One time I couldn't get it started, and then I noticed that I had not moved the throttle switch on the handle back from the "stop" position. As you operate the unit, you can adjust the throttle speed with the orange finger trigger on the handle, or you can use the thumb throttle switch to set the speed to a constant level. That thumb switch is what you use to turn the unit off, by pushing the thumb switch all the way up and thereby shut off the fuel supply. So if you forget to move the switch back from the "stop" position once it's turned off, you won't be able to start it.

The air speed is not quite a strong as a Toro electric blower that I have with variable speed, but I bought this Husky for the portability aspect and to not have to drag around the extension cord everywhere. So with that in mind, it does a great job. The variable speed trigger on the handle is really nice. The waist belt makes it comfortable to wear during long usage.

The price is a little steep, but you can tell this is a quality product that's built to last once you operate it. No regrets.

It's a Beast, November 9, 2011

This review is from: Husqvarna 350BT 50.2cc 2-Cycle X-Torq Gas Powered 180 MPH Midsize Back Pack Blower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
I live in the middle of a 40 acre mature woods with a 1/4 mi drive and lots of landscaping. I have LOTS of leaves and raking and a hand held blower just won't cut it. The 350BT has no problem moving the leaves wet or dry, it operates a long time on a tank of gas and is more quiet than any of the hand held blowers I've used. Assembly was easy and it starts on the first or second pull. In subsequent models there are 3 things that I would address: 1) The harness should have a horizontal strap that goes across the upper part of the chest that connects both sides. This would make it more secure and comfortable. 2) The sections of the blower tube loosen during use and require turning to re-lock in place. An improved connecting configuration is needed. If it gets too annoying you can always wrap some duct tape around the connection joints but you shouldn't have to. 3) There should be an obvious place to secure the motor during a pull start. I just place my left hand on the top of the unit near the spark plug while it is resting on the ground and pull the cord with my right hand. This works OK but it needs a better balance point I think it could be improved. Overall, though, I highly recommend the 350BT. It will do the job for you.

Just the Best, September 14, 2011

Have purchased many Back Pack blowers this year from Home Depot, Lowes and returned them. They just didn't do what they said they would. I even bought a Homelite a couple of years ago from Amazon and just a piece of junk, I kept it because it ran, now it doesn't. This Husqvama may be a little heaver than most, but it R E A L L Y does the job. Now I see why most of the HGTV shows use the Husqvama products. They are so much better.

I had mind for a little over a month now easy to start and I use 89 octane with Husqvarna XP mix and it runs very smooth and quieter than I suspected, with almost no vibration and very good power. Only improvement would be the blower pipe lock tend to stick
